The Horse Riding Education and Polo lessons provide a unique opportunity for children to connect with animals, the outdoors and develop confidence, responsibility and basic skills around handling and riding horses. Children will be introduced to horse welfare, understanding the upkeep of horses, feeding, watering and exercise regime, grooming and veterinary requirements.

Lessons will also include safety instructions around horses, riding equipment, and getting on and off a horse safely.  Riding instruction focusses on riding posture, stopping and turning, progressing from walk through to trotting and a gentle canter, while gradually building the rider’s confidence. The Polo sessions are designed to provide a safe, structured and fun learning environment with coaching of the polo swing: forehand, backhand, off-side and near-side swings and rules of the game.  There will be group practice (“chukkas”) in a live-game environment towards the final lessons. Polo Instructors are dedicated to teaching proper riding and polo technique, while fostering a love and respect for horses.

Basic riding equipment is provided, however it is encouraged for students to acquire their own equipment where possible.

This program is delivered at Colts Polo, an Argentine Polo Association (“AAP”) certified polo school.  The AAP is the prominent governing of the sport of polo.

Buses depart school at 3:50pm, the lesson runs for one hour, and the bus returns to school at approximately 6:00pm. Parents can collect students from Colts from 5:20pm onwards, or from AIS Gate 2 at 6.00pm.

Payment is required before the student can commence the activity. An email with a payment link will be sent from the CCA office as soon as CCA/Sport allocations have been finalised.
