The expedition involves an investigation of Jakarta as a megacity and challenges of living in an urban environment, including exploration of the transportation system, traffic, river, channelization, and waste problems. Following this, the expedition will move to Bali, where students will focus on the impact of tourism and investigate a number of sites with different tourism profiles including a developing, stagnant and rejuvenating hotspot. In addition to fulfilling assessment objectives, the trip has been specifically designed to enrich and fulfil the course outcomes and content of both the HSC and IB syllabus.
